How domain transfers work

Follow these steps to transfer most domains. If you get stuck, our support team can help you verify eligibility and complete the process.

01

Check eligibility

Confirm your domain is unlocked, privacy settings allow transfer, and it’s been registered for at least 60 days (ICANN rule).

02

Get the authorization code

Request the EPP/Auth code from your current registrar. You’ll use it to approve the transfer.

“Clear steps, fast help, and no surprises. I transferred two domains and had DNS set up the same day.”

03

Place the transfer order

Add the transfer to your cart and enter the Auth code during checkout. Transfers typically include a 1-year renewal.

04

Approve and complete

Approve the transfer email when prompted. Most transfers finish in 5–7 days, often sooner.

Transfer FAQ

Common questions about transferring a domain to fluzix.

How long does a transfer take?

Most transfers complete in 5–7 days. Some finish faster if the current registrar approves quickly.

Will my website or email go down?

Not if DNS is handled carefully. Keep your current nameservers until you’re ready to switch, and verify records before making changes.

Does a transfer add a year to my domain?

In most cases, yes—transfers include a 1-year renewal (some TLDs may differ). Your existing time is typically preserved.

Why can’t I transfer a newly registered domain?

ICANN requires a 60-day lock after registration or certain contact changes. If you’re within that window, you’ll need to wait.

What is an Auth/EPP code?

It’s a unique code from your current registrar that authorizes the transfer. You’ll enter it during checkout.

Can you help if my transfer is stuck?

Yes. Contact support with your domain name and any error message, and we’ll help you identify the next step.
